MKSM (milton keynes south midlands)

Introduction

The MKSM Inter-Regional Board (IRB) was established by government in 2004,to bringing together the key strategic delivery and infrastructure partners with the common aim to coordinate and performance manage the growth area programme for the Milton Keynes South Midlands Sub Region.

The Brief

The development of a web-based information resource was seen as an important and cost-effective way of promoting the unique selling points of the MKSM Growth Area. It should also be a showcase of what MKSM is doing to drive the Governments growth agenda and a portal to a wide range of other organisations and partnerships across the area.

The requirements setout for this website included the following:

The user interface needed to be simple, clear and intuitive.
Meet currentaccessibility standards and be be W3C AAA compliant.
Include a site-wide Search facility
Secure updating facility (text-based content and images)
It should be designed to be picked up easily by Google
Provision of website statistics

The design

The clients wanted to create a vibrant & dynamic website, whilst still affording the right balance between formal presentation of factual information and crisp, business.

The layout for the site was kept crisp and clean tith consistant navigation to help guide the visitor through the site. Images were used throughout to enliven the site,as well as the addition of an interactive map.

Content management system (CMS)

The client required the capability to update the text content and images themselves, and because they were often working off-site, this needed to be through a web interfaced that could be accessed from any computer with a web browser..

Full training of key staff in using the site and for managing/updating the site was provided and they do so with our on-going support.
